Community Supported Agriculture

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) makes a direct connection between growers and consumers. Local food lovers buy shares in the farm before the season begins, entitling them to a portion of a farm’s produce through the year at discounted prices. Every week, the farm will pack up a box of what’s fresh for pickup or delivery. CSAs allow you to eat with the seasons, support local farms, and find community in our shared food system.

Beginning in 2022, Tender Heart Gardens will offer a 16-week CSA! Share pickup will be available weekly at Fenner Nature Center, but for an additional weekly charge we will deliver within a 10-mile radius.

Following our principles

One of our guiding principles is that all people deserve quality food. While a CSA share is an investment in local agriculture, we believe that all businesses should invest in their communities as well. Our CSA memberships will be accessible to all community members through several methods:

  • Sliding-scale membership rates
  • EBT-based membership for individuals with SNAP benefits
  • Working memberships, in which some or all of the cost of membership is offset by member labor, in whatever capacity the member is able to support our work.

If you are able to financially support our commitment to these principles, our sliding scale membership rates are a great way to subsidize the costs of CSA membership for low-income members.
